The Division of Recoverable and Disposable Resources (DRDR), also known as UVA Recycling, is responsible for all recycling efforts at the University, helping to ensure that opportunities for material-based conservation and reclamation are maximized.
The division also manages waste collection at the University.
In addition to expanding opportunities to recycle, the division is actively involved in promoting efforts to improve sustainability in the University community. Reduce, Re-Use, Recycle!

Come to UVA Recycling's Earth Day Extravaganza on April 22, 10am - 4pm, between Garrett and Minor Hall. We will have a Dumpster Dive to show how much material in an average UVA dumpster could have been recycled. Enter our "CAN you guess?" contest for a free water bottle or pick up a magnet and button. The closest guesser will win a Kleen Kanteen water bottle from Ragged Mountain Running Shop! We will display the results of our Cabell Campaign, where our student employees and Conservation Advocates collect all the recyclables left sitting on floors and desks in Cabell Hall for one week, to show how much could have been recycled. Please bring your plastic bags to recycle through Trex, a plastic lumber company. We will also have recycling games and representatives from environmentally-friendly University and community departments, groups, and companies, including: UVA Dining, Students for Environmental Action, Community Bikes, Go Green Hybrid Transportation, Charlottesville Tomorrow, The Habitat Store, Waste Management, and the Sierra Club.

UVA Recycling is participating in Recyclemania 2008! 400 schools across the country will compete to see who can recycle the most and trash the least. Last year, UVA placed 9th in the Gorilla Prize which measures total recyclables collected. Help us do even better this year by remembering to reduce, reuse, and recycle!

America Recycles Day on November 14 was a great success! We had a Dumpster Dive to show how much trash in an average dumpster could have been recycled, recycling games, and a contest to guess how much money a large bale of aluminum cans is worth. Thanks to all the groups who came out: Trex, Madison House Holiday Sharing, Students for Environmental Action, Green Grounds, Rivanna Solid Waste Authority, the Student Council Environmental Sustainability Committee, Go Green Taxi Service, The Habitat Store, Community Bikes, and UVA Dining!
