Privacy Statement

  • Disposal of confidential documents is the responsibility of the waste generator.
  • UVa Recycling can not guarantee 100% confidentiality of material.
  • We DO NOT shred material, but will accept shredded paper (downgraded to office mix).
  • The material DRDR collects is placed into a locked container by University employees, baled at our contracted recycling processor, who sells the bales to an end user market, where it is added to a pulp slurry mix and completely destroyed. Although the chances are slim, there is an opportunity for the confidentiality of material disposed in this manner to be breeched.
  • The state has contracts in place for state agencies and University departments to purchase shredders.
  • The party generating confidential waste is responsible for insuring its confidentiality and providing the labor to shred the material.
  • Arrangements can be made for us to collect any shredded paper.
